Papillon’s LTS-101-Powered AS350 Fleet Hits Milestone

Papillon Grand Canyon Helicopters reports its fleet of Honeywell LTS-101-powered Eurocopter AS350s has accumulated 20,000 hr of incident-free operation. Papillon converted its four AS350BAs to the “Super-D” configuration in late 2003, replacing the aircraft’s Turbomeca Arriel 1B with the newly released LTS 101-600A3-A. The helicopters perform air tours of the Grand Canyon, where outside air temperatures regularly exceed 40C (104F), and Las Vegas and “have demonstrated excellent hot and high performance” with an eight percent reduction in fuel consumption, the company said. Papillon also recently accepted its first of seven Soloy “Super D-2” helicopters, Eurocopter AS350B2s retrofitted with LTS101-700D-2s to replace Arriel 1D1s. More
