Officials: Dog Rescue Alternatives 'Unacceptable'
Using a Los Angeles County Fire Department (LAFD) helicopter to help extract a German Shepherd was the right thing to do, firefighters said Monday. While many are hailing the officers as heroes, some have criticized the rescue effort for using taxpayer-funded equipment to save a dog. But LAFD officials noted that extra taxpayer money was not used, there was little risk and the other alternatives were “unacceptable,” according to media accounts. Raw footage of the rescue can be seen on Rotor & Wing’s Rotorcraft in Action video spot.
