The U.S. State Dept. has cleared a possible foreign military sale of three CH-47Fs to Australia, according to the U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency, which added that it had notified Congress of the potential sale on Dec. 18. In addition to the Boeing tandem-rotor helicopters, the roughly $180 million transaction would include six Honeywell T55-GA-714A engines and a host of other equipment. Australia already has seven -47Fs, which are flown by the Australian Army’s 5th Aviation Regiment as replacements for the service’s -47Ds.
