Nevada County OKs Police AS350B3 Buy

The Placer County, Nev. Board of Supervisors has approved the $2.5-million purchase of a new Eurocopter AS350B3 AStar for law enforcement, rescue and firefighting. “Our missions have expanded dramatically since 1995,” said Captain Dave Harris, Placer County Sheriff’s division commander of support services. The sheriff’s 1971 Bell OH-58 “doesn’t keep pace with the types and numbers of missions being requested of us.” It will, however, be kept as a backup. The Eurocopter is to be fitted with a hoist rescue device and capable of carrying a water bucket for firefighting.  More
