MD Helicopters Weighs LUH Protest
In the wake of a July 10 briefing by U.S. Army officials on its failed bid for the $3 billion Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) contract, MD Helicopters is weighing whether to protest the June 30 award for 322 aircraft (with options for 30 more) to a team led by EADS North America. MD head Lynn Tilton has charged the Army’s evaluation process was “seriously flawed and perfunctory, at best,” though she acknowledged the Army considered MD’s bid “high risk” for producibility and technical reasons and in March asked the company to withdraw from the competition. It is believed MD has until July 24 to file a protest.
