Kansas Town Fights on Over Police R44
The controversy over Topeka. Kan.'s police helicopter fleet rages on. Mayor Bill Bunten in July vetoed a proposal to purchase a second Robinson Helicopter R44 to replace an aging Bell Helicopter OH-58C, and the city council failed to override his veto. But the council earlier this month approved another proposal for the acquisition, according to The Capitol-Journal. Critics charge council members may have violated "open meeting" requirements in arranging approval. The mayor said he'll still fight the acquisition. For related news
