American Eurocopter has received an order for two helicopters—an EC135 and EC145—from HealthNet Aeromedical Services of Charleston, W.V. The helicopters will join the medical operators fleet, which includes two other EC135s and four AS350s. The helicopters are equipped with a number of upgrades, including dual-pilot instrument flight rules (IFR) capability, night vision goggles (NVGs) for pilots and crewmembers, a helicopter terrain awareness warning system (TAWS) and a wire strike kit. Eurocopter plans to deliver the EC135 and 145 in the fourth quarter of 2009, with interior modifications commencing shortly thereafter.
