Few International Takers for Upgraded Seahawk

The Sikorsky Seahawk SH-60, a stalwart in the U.S. Navy, has racked up a string of sales lately to overseas buyers. What’s more, Sikorsky is in full production of the enhanced Seahawk, in the form of the Romeo and Sierra models, both of which are being eagerly embraced by the U.S. Navy for Anti-submarine Warfare and other capabilities. However, Richard Aboulafia, vice president of research at The Teal Group, told Aviation Today: “The H-60 is popular with foreign buyers but it appears that the upgraded variants, despite their superior qualities, have not scored a single international customer.” When asked this question during a Farnborough press conference, Sikorsky officials said that budget-conscious foreign buyers sometimes require more time to embrace sophisticated new upgrades.
