FAA Inspector, Pilot Injured in Crash

A Eurocopter AS350 A-Star went down in Hana, Hawaii on Dec. 16 following apparent mechanical issues that forced an emergency landing. An FAA safety inspector and the pilot of the helicopter were injured in the crash, which occurred during a routine proficiency check. Sunshine Helicopters operates the AS350, which landed in an open pasture near Hana Airport (HHN) with floats deployed, according to reports. The tail boom broke off during the crash, which is still under investigation.
