Eurocopter Inks Deal with South Korea

Eurocopter received official approval to assist in the launch of a new military transport helicopter program aimed at producing about 300 aircraft. Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) will serve as prime contractor on the Korean Helicopter Program, with Eurocopter as first partner. The initial contract between the two partners involves $1.3 billion for research and development of the 8-ton class transport helicopter, designed to carry up to 11 troops. The deal ultimately will lead to a production contract in excess of $4 billion, starting around 2011. More
