Duke Airborne Systems Uncovers Robotic RMS for Helicopters

Duke Airborne Systems has designed a robotic remote weapon system (RMS) for use in helicopters. The RWS incorporates land-based technology on an airborne platform, reducing the need for attack helicopter escorts. The system boasts a 360-degree firing capability and occupies approximately one-third of the cargo space in a typical utility helicopter. Based on a delta-robot motion platform, the six-axis stabilization unit, in comparison to a two-axis unit, can suppress vibration and translations in three axis of movements and three axis of rotation, according to Duke. The RMS is set for introduction during Eurosatory in Paris from June 16-20.
