AgustaWestland Lynx that crashed a year ago in southern Iraq was shot down by a surface-to-air missile, the
BBC reports. The news service cited the results of a British investigation into the May 6, 2006 crash in Basra. The crash of the aircraft, assigned to the Royal Navy’s 847 Naval Air Sqdn., killed five
military personnel, including the first British servicewoman to die in action in Iraq.
