AgustaWestland Signs Training Agreements in Scandinavia

AgustaWestland has also signed two training services contracts to support its Family of new generation helicopters. Bel Air of Denmark has signed a five-year training contract featuring a comprehensive package of services including simulator training for the AW139 intermediate and the AW189 super medium twin-engine helicopters. Lufttransport AS of Norway has signed a three-year flight simulator contract for the AW139 and AW169 light intermediate helicopters.

Through these latest contracts, which further expand the level of service provided by AgustaWestland in Northern Europe, the company will deliver more than 500 simulator flight hours across the Family, providing the customers with unprecedented fleet and crew management capabilities, enhancing flexibility and safety while also reducing costs.

Following the launch of the AW189 and AW169, a range of support and training services for the Family types has been developed including distance learning solutions, virtual and ground maintenance trainers, Flight Training Device (FTD) and Full Flight Simulators (FFS) available with the first aircraft delivery. Courses are designed to maximize the benefits of the Family to enable rapid type transition lowering training costs and simplifying type introduction while meeting specific customer needs.

Falcon Aviation Services (FAS) of Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) has signed a contract for two AW189 super medium helicopters in offshore transport configuration. The contract will expand FAS’ fleet of AgustaWestland helicopters, which already includes light helicopters such as the Grand and GrandNew, and will shortly be joined by the new AW169.

The new 8.3-ton AW189 is optimized for long-range offshore transport and SAR missions and has already received orders for 130 helicopters, including options and framework contracts. The cabin is configured with 16 seats as standard with the option for a high-density 19-seat layout or a long-range 12-seat configuration. The cockpit design, incorporating the latest in advanced situational awareness technologies, reduces crew workload and enhances safety. The AW189 meets the very latest international regulatory safety requirements (EASA / FAA Part 29, JAR OPS 3 / EU-OPS), and has a 50-minute “run-dry” capable main gearbox, exceeding current certification standards and offering unmatched safety and reliability for long-range offshore operations.
