ADS-B Kicks In For Gulf Operators
FAA has launched initial operating capability (IOC) at its Houston center in support of offshore helicopter companies in the Gulf of Mexico. The agency will now provide expanded air traffic control services for Gulf operators, including the use of automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B). In addition, more weather information will be available, as well as improved voice communications for low-altitude helicopters.
