Teaching Firefighters About Rotorcraft

Firefighters in Gainesville, Fla are learning how to work around law enforcement helicopters.  Their teachers are members of the Alachua County Sheriff Dept.’s Joint Aviation Unit. The aircraft, which regularly patrol the city, have been called upon for a variety of emergencies, from fires to missing-person cases. Firefighters are learning good safety practices around helicopters as well as how to use the aircraft and equipment on board to help on emergency scenes. The training is important because there are more incidents involving fire and search and rescue calls that involve helicopters.
