Schweizer to Deliver 6,000th Aircraft

Look for Schweizer Aircraft to deliver its 6,000th aircraft at HAI’s Heli-Expo 2007 in Orlando, Fla., come March. The helicopter will go to the Titusville, Fla.-based flight school Helicopter Adventures, which is already a big Schweizer 300 CB and CBi operator. The 6,000 aircraft haven’t all been helicopters. Now a Sikorsky Aircraft subsidiary, Schweizer started out building gliders, then produced fixed-wing drones, agricultural aircraft, and reconnaissance birds before buying the Hughes 300 helicopter line. Today, it builds fixed-wing drones, the rotary-wing Fire Scout unmanned aerial vehicle for the U.S. Navy and Army (with prime contractor Northrop Grumman), and reconnaissance aircraft as well as its 300-series piston and 333 turbine helicopters.    For related news
