Kuwait has taken delivery of six Boeing Apache Longbow AH-64D attack helicopters, Agence France Presse reports.
They are the first of 16 ordered from the
United States by the oil-rich Gulf state. The balance are scheduled to arrive by the end of this month.
The 16 Apaches are part of a $2.1-billion deal signed between the U.S. and
Kuwait in 2003. It also includes four spare engines, maintenance, supply of
necessary spare parts, the training of 48 pilots and instructors as well as
300 Hellfire missiles.
