S. Korea $6B Arms Program

The South Korean Army plans to launch a $6 billion arms procurement program to build 270 attack helicopters. The South Korean army is also developing 245 utility helicopters. The plan will upgrade the Korean military's defense readiness as well as replace its aging 500MD light attack helicopters. The plan was approved in June 2006. The Army hopes to build a prototype helicopter by 2014 before beginning mass production of the attack helicopters. More
