Sikorsky to Base European Ops Around PZL Mielec

Sikorsky Aircraft will build its European operations around its latest corporate acquisition, the Polish aviation manufacturer PZL Mielec. The Stratford, Conn. helicopter maker reached an agreement to buy 100 percent of Mielec, which is headquartered in the city of that name from Poland¹s national government. Sikorsky plans to "aggressively modernize" the factory and tooling at PZL Mielec to support production of its International Black Hawk and continue the current capability for aircraft design, manufacture, flight test and delivery. PZL Mielec is Poland's largest fixed wing aircraft manufacturer, with about 1,500 employees. More
