Silver State Owner Loses Election Bid
The head of Silver State Helicopters has lost his bid to be the law in Las Vegas. Jerry Airola, founder and owner of Silver State, spent millions of dollars of his own money to win election as sheriff of Clark County, Nev., which includes “Sin City.” The sheriff oversees the Metropolitan Las Vegas Police Dept. But Airola lost to Undersheriff Doug Gillespie, a 26-year veteran of that department. Silver State specializes in aerial tours, aerial photography, executive charters, law enforcement air support, firefighting, search and rescue, film and television support, external load and utility work, agriculture support and flight training.
