ExxonMobil Suspends Offshore Pumas

ExxonMobil has temporarily halted use of Super Puma helicopters offshore Malaysia following the Nov. 5 crash of one 103 nm off the coast of Terengganu with 21 people on board, according to the Malaysia national news agency Bernama. All but the captain of that Eurocopter aircraft survived; his body reportedly was recovered today. The news service said ExxonMobil’s Exploration and Production Malaysia, Inc. unit will temporarily stop using Super Pumas “until further notice,” citing a company statement issued in Kuala Lumpur Sunday.
