AgustaWestland parent Finmeccanica is “optimistic”' it can sell more helicopters to the Japanese government after this year's deliveries, according to the
Bloomberg News Service. Bloomberg quoted Finmeccanica Director General Giorgio Zappa as saying, “We are quite optimistic that we can make it especially if we rely on what our Japanese partners are telling us.” Agusta Westland sold in June four A109 Powers to the Japanese National Police Agency in a project that may involve further purchases in the next years. The country's Navy bought 14 EH101s to be assembled in Japan by Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. Last month, it sold three AW139 helicopters to the Japanese Coast Guard, which is planning to buy a total of 24.
