Foreign Object Halts V-22 Assembly Line

On Nov. 21, Boeing halted production of the V-22 Osprey at its Philadelphia plant after discovering a plastic cap in an aircraft fuel line. Boeing could not immediately prove that the cap got there by accident, which, by protocol, triggered an immediate shutdown of the assembly process and an official government investigation into the possibility of sabotage. A confirmed act of sabotage on Boeing’s CH-47 Chinook line came to light earlier this year, resulting in a confession from a former employee that he maliciously cut wires in fuselages because he was disgruntled.
