N.Y. Resort Town Clears Heavier Aircraft

The Southampton Village, N.Y. Board of Trustees approved raising the weight limit of helicopters landing at the Southampton Heliport from 12,500 lbs. to 15,000 lbs., according to Hamptons.com. That clears AgustaWestland's AW139 to use the facility. The approval calls for installation of cameras to monitor takeoffs and landings there. Operators have been fighting public complaints about helicopter noise in the area. For related news
