California’s Orange County fire Authority is buying two new
Bell Helicopter 412EPs to strengthen its firefighting capabilities, according to
The Orange County Register. Edwards and Associates will complete the aircraft under a $21.6 million contract covering purchase and modification of the 412EPs, including installation of night-vision systems. That is part of a wider effort to improve firefighting capabilities by applying the lessons of last year's destructive Santiago fire, which destroyed more than 28,000 acres and 42 structures.
