AgustaWestland Adds AW139 Plant in Philadelphia

AgustaWestland today is cutting the ribbon on the second major expansion of its factory at Philadelphia's Northeast Philadelphia Airport. The added, 250,000-sq-ft facility will assemble the AW139 medium twin, which will become the fifth helicopter type made in the Philadelphia area. AgustaWestland already produces the AW119 Koala at its plant there, while Boeing makes the CH-47 Chinook and major assemblies of the Bell Helicopter-Boeing V-22 Osprey in Ridley Park and Sikorsky Aircraft produces the S-76 at its Keystone Helicopter subsidiary in Coatesville, Pa.
