Honeywell to Develop Synthetic Vision Technology

Honeywell International will develop and integrate synthetic vision technology to improve helicopter landings in brownout conditions. The program is part of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Sandblaster program. The goal of the program is to enhance situational awareness and reduce the workload for pilots operating aircraft in degraded visual environments. The company's technology will integrate radar-based sensor information with terrain and obstacle data. Honeywell plans to market the system commercially by 2010. For related news
