Rotorcraft Report: Study: MRO Demand Rising In Asia

SERVICES

The migration of people from rural to urban areas in the Asia-Pacific region has greatly increased the population density there. That combined with heavily congested roads is making air transportation more popular in major cities, which in turn is driving demand for helicopters and the maintenance, repair and overhaul services needed to support them.

Those are among the findings of the market analysis firm Frost & Sullivan’s latest assessment of the helicopter MRO market in the Asia-Pacific. Another factor driving demand for those services, it said, is rising interest in emergency medical and fire services, police air support and corporate air operations.

"The rapid economic growth of Asia Pacific has resulted in uneven urbanization developments that have increased population density and deteriorated land traffic conditions," said Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Chern Wai Cheong. "Increasingly, helicopters are utilized as an alternative mode of transportation in densely populated regions, thereby increasing demand for MRO activities."
