EASA Certifies Turbomeca Arriel 2E Engine

The European Aviation Safety Agency has certified the Turbomeca Arriel 2E engine, which is scheduled for entry into service at the end of 2013 on the Eurocopter EC145T2. The Arriel 2E has a takeoff power of 950 shp, and is controlled by a dual-channel FADEC, and a new engine data recorder. According to Turbomeca, the engine also features a higher time between overhaul (TBO), with up to 4,000 hours at entry into service.
