Turbomeca specializes in the design, production, sale and support of low- to medium-power gas turbines for helicopters. As required by government contract, all of the 644 engines for the U.S. Army’s new UH-72A helicopters will be assembled and tested at the Turbomeca USA facility in Grand Prairie, Texas. Turbomeca is proud to have the opportunity to power the U.S. Army, especially after the overwhelming success of the re-engining program for the United States Coast Guard’s HH-65 fleet.
Ranging from 450 to 3,000 shp, Turbomeca turbines power civil, para-public and defense helicopters for all leading helicopter manufacturers. Despite this variety, all of these turbines benefit from Turbomeca’s emphasis on leading-edge technology that is carefully designed, rigorously tested, and painstakingly manufactured.
"The importance we attach to investment in R&D enables our customers to benefit from the latest technology with a real potential for improved power ratings," explains Turbomeca CEO and Chairman Emeric d’Arcimoles. "After the sale is done, we support our customers with top quality service, to ensure that their engines continue to provide peak performance and retain their book value."

Meanwhile, Turbomeca’s dedication to after-sales service explains why it operates 14 locations worldwide, including Turbomeca USA and Turbomeca Canada
Turbomeca has expanded its Turbomeca USA facilities in Grand Prairie. The additional 67,000 sq ft encompasses office space, a shipping and receiving area, warehouse, new production, and a Turbo Support Center. This expansion helps to meet the growing demand for Turbomeca engines. Along with an expansion at Turbomeca Canada, this growth is part of a global expansion of resources occurring within Turbomeca to meet customer demand.
In the past five years, Turbomeca has added 15 local TurboSupport Centers — notably three in the United States — a 24/7 network of three strategically located Technical Engineering centers, and a user’s online MRO tracking web service (T.O.O.L.S.). In the same period, the company expanded the number of its field representatives from 15 to 40.
The company’s repair and overhaul network capacity has dramatically increased. Its regional units now operate more autonomously, enabling work to be directed where it can be most quickly accomplished. In 2007, Turbomeca’s engine repair capacity in North America will be twice as big as in 2003!
Turbomeca serves 2,200 customers in 150 countries. Turbomeca is part of the Propulsion branch of the SAFRAN Group, a high-technology group. Turbomeca also has two subsidiaries: Microturbo, a specialist in turbo-reactors for missiles; and CGTM, dedicated to in-flight testing and maintenance.
Thanks to Turbomeca’s continuing investment in R&D, commitment to global service, and quality design and manufacturing facilities, Turbomeca helicopter engines are the choice of AgustaWestland, Eurocopter, HAL and Sikorsky. Just connect to www.turbomeca.com to find out more!
