Sikorsky Tests Active Rotor Wind Tunnel
The technology development arm of Sikorsky Aircraft has wrapped up wind tunnel testing of its active rotor system with high authority flaps. Sikorsky and the U.S. Army Aviation Applied Technology Directorate (AATD) jointly funded the effort. The system was put trough various forward flight conditions up to 140 knots, according to Chris Van Buiten, director of Sikorsky Innovations.
