Rotorcraft Report: People

Jim Shirey has joined Chelton Flight Systems, Boise, Idaho as vice president for business development. Shirey was formerly vice president of marketing for North America with SAGEM Avionics, Inc.

Jake Hart has joined Chelton Flight Systems as vice president of autopilot systems. Hart will work in the Chelton Flight Systems’ Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas office.

A South Korean army major has won that service’s "Top Heli-Gun" award for best aerial sharpshooting. Maj. Jeon Su-hong, who pilots an antitank AH-1S helicopter, bested 370 fellow helicopter pilots in the October 2006 competition. Jeon has logged 1,500 flying hours during his 17-year aviation career.

Dale Weir of Columbia Helicopters has been selected as the Helicopter Assn. International’s Pilot of the Year Award recipient. The award will be presented at Heli-Expo 2007’s "Salute to Excellence" awards dinner on March 2 in Orlando, Fla.

Lt. Col. Damon Reynolds has assumed command of the U.S. Air Force’s 34th Weapons Sqdn., succeeding Lt. Col. Steve Colby.
