Rotorcraft Report: Air Methods Renews Maintenance Contract with Pratt & Whitney Canada

COMMERCIAL

Aeromedical operator Air Methods has signed a contract with engine maker Pratt & Whitney Canada, expanding the scope of their maintenance relationship. The contract calls for Pratt Canada to maintain the engines on all of Air Methods’ helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft for five years.

"This major contract renews and extends a previous maintenance contract and confirms our leadership in servicing the emergency medical services market," said Raffaele Virgili, vice president of Pratt Canada’s service centers. "This contract currently covers some 100 Pratt & Whitney Canada engines, and we expect it to grow to 200 engines as Air Methods expands its fleet of emergency air medical aircraft."

Pratt Canada has a network of 30 wholly-owned and authorized service centers around the world, as well as a global parts and technical support network. Established in 1982, Denver-based Air Methods has aircraft stationed throughout the United States.

The contract covers maintenance on a variety of engines, including the PT6T, PW206B, PW206B2 and PW207E used on Air Methods’ Bell Helicopter, Eurocopter and MD Helicopters products and the PT6A-28, PT6A-42 and PT6-67B for Air Methods’ Beech and Pilatus fixed-wing aircraft.
