Calgary, Canada-based Absolute Fire Solutions has delivered its first FASTTrack system to Helicorp of Melbourne, Australia. The FASTTrack technology measures, records and transmits bucket and tank data, including the amount of water, retardant or foam loaded and dropped on a particular area during firefighting missions. The tracking system is the result of three years of development from Absolute Fire Solutions. The company, which also makes the FAST bucket, says FASTTrack is ideal for forestry and fire management agencies, as well as state and federal government operators. The Fine Group has come up with a series of lightweight covers for portions of the Chinook military helicopter. The company assisted the UK Royal Air Force (RAF) to design and manufacture a group of bespoke covers to protect sensitive parts of the helicopter. Various sizes were produced for the cockpit, pylon aperture, rotor head and rotor blades. Fine Group is currently testing the covers, which are designed to diminish damage caused in severe weather, ranging from cold arctic conditions to hot temperatures of the desert. Aerospace Filtration Systems (AFS) has struck a deal with Metro Aviation of Shreveport, La. to develop a new Eurocopter EC135 inlet barrier filter (IBF) system. A Donaldson Company subsidiary, AFS plans to acquire a supplemental type certificate (STC) for the filter installation in time for Heli-Expo in February. Under the partnership, Donaldson’s Aerospace and Defense Group will lead the design program and equip the first five IBF systems on helicopters in operation with Metro customers.
