Rotorcraft Report: Scott’s to Support Bell Model 47
Bell is transferring the Model 47 type certificate to one of its customer service facilities—Scott’s Helicopter Services of Le Sueur, Minn. The transition means that Scott’s will provide all commercial spares and technical support, as well as continued airworthiness of the 47, starting in the first quarter of 2010. The ownership change covers H-1, 2H1 and 2H3 variants.
Danny Maldonado, Bell’s senior vice president and chief services officer, notes that while the 47 “really started the commercial helicopter business,” the company felt the transition was in the best interest of operators and the model type. The helicopter will be known as Scott’s-Bell 47 going forward.
