Rotorcraft Report: DRF Readies Portuguese BO-105s for Brazil’s Rain Forest

COMMERCIAL/UTILITY

DRF German Air Rescue’s technical department is readying three Eurocopter BO-105s for a Portuguese operator to use in Brazil’s rain forest.

The Deutsche Rettungsflugwacht (the group’s German name) prepared the aircraft at its maintenance facility in Rheinmünster, Germany, where aircraft technicians converted the cockpits from VFR to IFR configurations and installed load hooks and seats. They also installed high-configuration landing gear and painted the aircraft in the client’s colors and design.

An oil company plans to use the aircraft for soil exploration in the rain forest and to transport heavy loads.

The DRF and its partners in the Team DRF operate three EASA Part 145-approved maintenance facilities. The DRF maintains its EMS/rescue aircraft and all Eurocopter helicopter types in its own maintenance facility at the DRF Operations Center at Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden airport.

DRF is a non-profit organization.
