Intro to Annual Reports

Randy Jones

As we began the process of contacting companies to compile Rotor & Wing's 2006 Annual Reports issue, one thing became apparent very quickly. 2005 was a very busy year. It is amazing how much has changed in the brief 12 months since we last compiled this report in January 2005. Keystone and Composite Technologies, Inc. are now part of the ever-expanding Sikorsky family. Enstrom is coming off what must surely be one of their best years ever. The guys at Dyncorp have spun off from their former parent and Cav-Air and HAS have joined forces to create an all-new company. Numerous individuals have shifted positions in the industry and an amazing array of new products and new technologies have been rolled out in the past year.

One other thing also became apparent as we reviewed the comments from the Executive Outlook section from our 2005 Annual Reports issue. Our industry executives provide a very good barometer of the business prospects for the coming year. Maybe we just chose a particularly easy year to begin asking them to tell us what they see on the horizon for the coming months, but they all forecast a very strong year and 2005 turned out to be one of the best years in this industry in recent memory. It should be interesting to see what they all see on the horizon for the next 12 months. You can see what they have to say in the Executive Outlook section below and then read about the other important industry changes throughout the rest of this, our 2006 Annual Reports issue.
