Rotorcraft Report: Bell’s Edwards Acquires Cav-Air Assets

SERVICES/COMPLETIONS

Edwards & Associates has acquired the assets of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Cav-Air Helicopters. The Bell Helicopter subsidiary said the move will "further the expansion of its customer support and service offerings" in the customer-rich Florida market.

Cav-Air, which was founded in the early 1980s, operated its Bell Helicopter-approved service center out of Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (FXE), which Edwards has now taken over, as an addition to its main facility in Bristol, Tenn. Edwards completed the acquisition June 1 and took over immediately.

"This acquisition aligns very well with our strategy to expand support capabilities to our vertical-lift customer base in key regions," said Bell President and CEO Dick Millman, who added the South Florida location is "conducive to drawing business from the Caribbean and Latin America markets."

Edwards specializes in completing, refurbishing, customizing, and maintaining Bell products. It is also the parent of Aeronautical Accessories Inc., Rotor Blades Inc., RBI UK and RBI Hawker.
