ALEA to Host International Safety Meeting

PUBLIC SERVICE/POLICE

The Airborne Law Enforcement Assn. will host a forum on international safety initiatives at its annual conference this July in Orlando, Florida.

The police aviation group will convene its 37th Annual Conference & Expo July 11 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. On July 12, from 3 – 4:30 pm, it will co-host the International Helicopter Safety Team Forum with that team.

The forum is to address the history of the team’s international effort to reduce helicopter accidents by 80 percent within the next 10 years, including what analysis has been done to date and recommendations for moving forward with this effort to mobilize the international helicopter community. While the team’s stated goal is straightforward, achieving it is a complex process that requires an industry-wide effort to be successful.

The forum panel will consist of the team’s executive committee co-chairs, Matt Zuccaro, president of the Helicopter Assn. International, and Dave Downey, head of the FAA’s Rotorcraft Directorate. Also on the forum panel will be representatives of the Joint Helicopter Safety Analysis Team and Joint Helicopter Safety Implementation Team, along with representatives from helicopter manufacturers. ALEA President Dan Schwarzbach will join the panel.

For more information on this event, contact ALEA Safety Program Manager Keith Johnson at 213-400-5536.
