Vandals Damage Police Helicopters

Two police helicopters in the U.K. have been vandalized while sitting on the ground at their bases in as many months. The first occurred in May when a Surrey helicopter was heavily damaged by an ax-wielding group of people, who may have been the subject of an earlier disturbance the aircraft was dispatched to locate. The second act occurred in June when a person or persons cut a hole in the fence at Elmdon Airport where the West Midlands helicopter is kept. That helicopter was badly damaged by a fire that was set near its nose. Police have not made any arrests in the cases, which have resulted in damages running into the millions of pounds.
