Rotorcraft Report: Korean Coast Guard Receives Two Multi-Mission AW139s

Italian manufacturer AgustaWestland has delivered two AW139s to the Korea Coast Guard, which will employ the helicopters in maritime patrol, SAR and EMS operations. The helicopters join the Gangwon Fire Fighting Department’s AW139 in performing missions in the region.

AgustaWestland has also received orders from two Asian operators for the AW109 Power—from Japan’s Alpen Co. and the Public Safety Bureau of Nanning, China. Alpen plans to use its helicopter, which is set for delivery before 2010, for corporate/VIP transport from Nagoya. The safety bureau will incorporate the eight-seat AW109 into police and disaster relief operations in southern China.
