Japanese Police Contract Four Additional Eurocopter Variants
Three different helicopter types (a total of four aircraft) are headed for Japan’s National Police Agency (NPA) under a new contract signed with Eurocopter Japan.
The two medium-class helicopters are going to the Hyogo Prefectural Police (EC155 B1) and the Hiroshima Prefectural Police (AS365 N3+), while the pair of light twin EC135 P2e models will be delivered to the Osaka Prefectural Police and Fukuoka Prefectural Police. All are to replace older aircraft.

Both of the EC135s are scheduled for delivery next year, while the Hyogo and Hiroshima police forces will receive their helicopters in 2015. NPA’s forces collectively operate 29 Eurocopter light twin and medium helicopters. Eurocopter Japan was founded in 2009 and claims to be the first foreign affiliated aircraft manufacturer to carry out direct sales, training, and customer support activities in Japan.
Back in March, AgustaWestland confirmed a contract through the NPA to supply a GrandNew to the Kawagawa prefecture. This will be the third of its type bought by the NPA, and AgustaWestland now says that 30 of its light-twin helicopters are being operated by law enforcement agencies in the country.
