Helitech to Shine Light on Police Aviation

Law enforcement aviation units and the challenges they face is the focus of a Sept. 29 discussion during Helitech Duxford, which starts on Tuesday, Sept. 27. Keynote speaker Alex Marshall, Hampshire Constabulary’s Chief Constable and lead of the UK’s National Police Air Support (NPAS), will share the challenges that law enforcement units are being met with when faced with shrinking budgets. Police helicopters and crew “are vital in responding to a range of policing requirements such as support for police work on the ground searching for missing persons or intelligence gathering,” notes Conference Chairman Andrew Drwiega, who is also Rotor & Wing‘s Military Editor. AgustaWestland’s head of UK Government and Corporate Affairs, Richard Folkes, will give a presentation after Marshall, titled, “Helicopter Emergency Response: Cost Effective Options for the Future.” The “Blue Light” session will also examine the future of parapublic aviation, including new technology, from Carl Crenshaw of Bell Helicopter.
