Helicopters Big Into Fighting Crime

Crime fighting helicopters are the wave of the future, according to law enforcement officials. A survey by the Airborne Law Enforcement Association said law enforcement helicopters outnumber fixed-wing aircraft 2-1. The association said there are 800 enforcement agencies in the United States that use rotorcraft. The surge in the use of airborne law enforcement coincided with the availability of free military aircraft in the mid-1990s. Helicopters with global positioning system mapping devices, night-vision, live streaming video and other equipment have made the aircraft even more useful said one manufacturer. For related news
