U.S. to Train Saudi Pilots

The University of North Dakota's Department of Aviation has won a $17 million contract to immediately train 27 Saudi pilots to fly helicopters, plus train 48 more within the next few years. The students were brought to the campus and enrolled in English courses first to make communicating during flight training easier. Once they have completed their training, the Saudi pilots will return to their homeland to fly search and rescue operations for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's Interior Ministry. The additional training activity and revenue will allow the school to increase its fleet of Sikorsky (formerly Schweitzer) 300s from six to 10, and its Bell 206 JetRangers from two to three.
