Florida Guard, UH-60s, Fighting Wildfires

The Florida National Guard supplied two UH-60 Black Hawks and flight crews in the fight to put out a wildfire that has engulfed thousands of acres in three central Florida counties. One UH-60  “Fire Hawk,” was equipped with a Sikorsky 1,000 gal detachable belly tank. The second Black Hawk dropped more than 600 gals of water over the flames from a bambi bucket. The flight crews from C Co, 1st Battalion, 244th Aviation Regiment are based at Flagler County Airport in Palm Coast. The crews train together annually and have worked with the Division of Forestry on fires throughout the state. For related news
