Fourth Sikorsky S-92 Joins Irish Coast Guard Fleet
The Irish Coast Guard has completed a fleet upgrade program with the integration of the fourth Sikorsky S-92 into its search and rescue (SAR) ranks. The helicopter will serve the Dublin region from Weston Executive Airport (WST). It replaces an S-61, which has ended service from Coast Guard bases in Dublin, Shannon, Sligo and Waterford.

During a January 13 handover ceremony, Irish Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport Leo Varadkar noted that the Coast Guard now features “one of the most modern and effective helicopter fleets in the world.” He lauded the work of the SAR crews: “This is a good occasion to pay tribute to the dedicated helicopter crews who work tirelessly to rescue lives all year round, and also the hundreds of volunteers on Coast Guard and RNLI vessels, mountain and cave rescue teams. It wouldn’t be possible to provide the same level of emergency response without these volunteers.”
