ONR Sensor to Assist Targeting

U.S. Office of Naval Research (ONR) officials have unveiled a new technology that allows Bell AH-1 and Sikorsky MH-60 pilots to “fire and forget.” The low-cost imaging terminal seeker (LCITS)—presented for the first time at the Naval Helicopter Association (NHA) Symposium earlier this week—allows pilots to select a target, fire the rocket and continue on to the next target. This results in a faster response time in tactical situations, according to ONR officials.
