First FIPS AW139 Enters Service

This Ornge AW139 is the first to receive AgustaWestland’s full ice protection system (FIPS). AgustaWestland
AgustaWestland has delivered the first EMS-configured AW139 with the full ice protection system (FIPS) to Ornge of Ontario, Canada. The AW139 is part of a 10-helicopter order. The handover follows recent Transport Canada certification of FIPS, which allows operators to conduct flight into known icing conditions. The Ornge agreement also includes an option for two additional AW139s. (From August 2010 Rotorcraft Report)
