AW169 Prototype No. 2 Takes Flight
AgustaWestland’s second prototype AW169 flew for the first time Friday, while the initial airframe—which took to the skies on May 10—is making its public debut at Farnborough International Airshow this week. The second testbed helicopter lifted off July 6 from the manufacturer’s facility in Cascina Costa, Italy. Prototype No. 1 arrived in the UK on Thursday (July 5). AgustaWestland plans to incorporate another AW169 into the program later this year, with a fourth and final test aircraft joining the effort in 2013. Certification is expected in 2014.
